Enlightened financial planning, from mortgages to cash management and investing, and to anticipating unforeseen circumstances, is a complex process that intertwines elements that seem to be otherwise unconnected. Divorce is among the most urgent and necessary of all financial exposures, and it takes a unique expertise to manage it.
While my services as a divorce planning consultant stem from and certainly relates to my work in the mortgage industry, it is a discreet and separate area of focus in my business. The Role of Financial Planning in Divorce
The protection of assets and the management of debt is the ultimate goal of financial planning, and this is especially true when it comes to divorce. Certainly, the disposition and transition of existing mortgages is part of the process. But the needs and the risks of divorce go far beyond a mortgage. The perspective of divorce planning is both short and long term, with immediate protection and long-term well-being across the entire spectrum of personal finances being equally important.
In addition to the financial well-being of the parties to a divorce, a critical consideration is the children, both their immediate care and planning for their education and their future. Toward that end, my role takes on a deep and personal relevance.

More Than Damage Control
The reason I began working in this arena was because I witnessed the downside of poor planning from the perspective of a mortgage professional. Divorce can be devastating, leaving you with no money and little hope, with credit ruined and the inability to purchase another home for many years. Professional planning and expertise can help you avoid that devastation and create a platform for moving ahead with your life.
Being able to make a difference for my clients in this time of need, and especially their children, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I’ve immersed myself in the nuance and evolution of this specialized field, and my approach is highly personal and caring.
My role as a divorce planning consultant is different than, yet compatible with, that of a lawyer, mediator, or therapist. In fact, what I do makes the jobs of those professionals easier, allowing them to focus without distraction and without worrying about the ability of their clients to pay them.
Fees for my work in the divorce arena are separate from any fees associated with mortgage procurement.
